MISSION:

To build caring, confident youth and future leaders through co-ed programs that strenghten the individual, the family, and the community. I get to be a member of the Board of Directors, and I'm an alum, too.

I was a Blue Bird in second grade. Today, the Orange County Council serves both boys and girls. One of our key programs is Special Sitters, where we train teens to care for children of special needs such as mental and physical disabilities, and autism. We partner with United Cerebral Palsy who in turn matches these trained teens with Orange County families of special needs children and their siblings. Teens receive CPR training, basic first aid, and learn to communicate and play with children of varying abilities. Special Sitters earn pay for their babysitting services.

Provides job training, job placement, job coaches and sheltered workshops for developmental disabled adults

Vocational Visions is located in Mission Viejo and serves all of South Orange County.  They truly make a difference for both the clients and their families.  Disabled adults who once just sat home and watched television are able to find jobs and friends and have the pride of earning a paycheck…even if it’s only a small one.

 

All members of South and North County PR and Marketing Group need to work in a different field.

Join us Saturday, June 12 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. when we work in Second Harvest of Orange County’s Incredible Edible Field.

Did you know that in Orange County, more than 456,000 people are at risk of going hungry sometime each month?

Fortunately, we can help. This year, our charity project is to help the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. We’re going to work in their Incredible Edible Agricultural Field in Irvine.

This is going to be fun, and a welcome change from your usual 9 to 5 gig! You can bring friends and family, including children. If someone is willing to help, they’re welcome to join us.

Who is Second Harvest?

The Second Harvest Food Bank is a non-denominational organization that has been working to eliminate hunger in Orange County since 1983. In a typical month, they help feed an average of 200,000 people, including the working poor, children, seniors on fixed incomes, single parents, the disabled, the homeless and individuals experiencing medical emergencies and recent job layoffs.

This is an organization that’s really making a difference in the fight against hunger.

 

What will we be doing?

There are lots of variables in farming, but most likely, we will be gleaning the spring crops. Whatever we do, you’ll feel good, knowing you were able to help.

You’ll also have an opportunity to be with members of our group in a casual setting that’s completely different from our regular meetings. Who knows, you just might meet someone who can help you in your regular field.
